Two hundred thousand households in the provinces of South Kivu and Tanganyika in Kalemie will benefit from this project that rises to 150 million US dollars.
In Kinshasa, held since Monday, May 7, 2018, there is a workshop on the official launch of the project to support the rehabilitation and revival of the agricultural sector, a project that returns in the framework of partnership between the Government of DR Congo and the World Bank.
This project aims to contribute to regional development and integration and increase agricultural productivity, in order to provide an immediate response in the event of a crisis.
In South Kivu this project will be executed by PICAGL and targets the city of Bukavu, the territories of Uvira and Fizi and Kalemie in Tanganyika.
Highlighted products include maize, cassava, rice, improved seeds will be made available to farmers.
In addition to agriculture, livestock breeding is also honored by partners who commit to making it a priority by distributing large and small livestock, a way to fight famine and poverty in various forms. At this great meeting, South Kivu is represented by its governor, Claud NYAMUGABO, and the provincial minister of agriculture, ADOLPHINE MULEY.
